The Operations Lead role at the Chicago Roastery is an essential leadership position contributing directly to the success and quality of the Starbucks Reserve brand experience. This position involves working closely with the operations managers, associate managers, and specialists to oversee and assist in the execution of store operations during scheduled shifts. The Operations Lead embodies Starbucks' guiding principles by modeling integrity, honesty, and professionalism while promoting the company's mission and values. They maintain composure during high volume or unusual situations and ensure that operational standards are upheld, delivering legendary customer service and a consistent Starbucks Reserve experience.
In this role, the Operations Lead anticipates customer and store needs by monitoring cues and communicating effectively with management to address those needs promptly. They play a vital part in training new partners, providing positive reinforcement and coaching to support staff development. Maintaining a positive and professional workplace culture, they foster excellent relationships with partners, enhancing teamwork and collaboration. Operational excellence is demonstrated through strict adherence to Starbucks Reserve policies, including cash handling, health, safety, and security standards. Additionally, the Operations Lead manages the responsible service of alcohol in compliance with all relevant laws and company policies.
The position requires flexibility to work varied schedules that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays. Strength and stamina are also necessary, as the role involves regular lifting of weights up to 35 pounds. Attention to detail, strong work ethic, multitasking abilities, and interpersonal skills are highly valued. Additional language skills are beneficial but not mandatory.

Job Duties
- Act with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promotes the culture, values, and mission of Starbucks
- Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to standard and set a positive example
- Anticipate customer and store needs by constantly evaluating the environment and customer cues, communicating information to the manager for appropriate response
- Assist with new partner training by positively reinforcing performance and providing respectful coaching, offering feedback to operations manager
- Contribute to a positive environment and develop a professional working relationship with each partner
