The role of Operations Director at the Benjamin Barnes Branch carries a critical leadership responsibility to oversee the design, delivery, and quality of YMCA youth programs. Reporting to the Chief Program and Mission Advancement Officer, this position requires a visionary leader capable of managing the day-to-day operations of diverse youth activities including after-school child care, summer day camps, mentoring, youth sports, and special events. The Operations Director plays an essential role in promoting the YMCA's core values and ensuring that every program incorporates character development principles that align with the association's mission. This position demands a hands-on leader who builds strong relationships within the community, works collaboratively with staff and volunteers, and fosters an environment where young people can thrive.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing program schedules, supervising staff and volunteers, monitoring budgets, and ensuring programs meet both participation and quality standards. A key aspect of this role is continuous program evaluation and incorporating new ideas and mission-driven initiatives that expand the YMCA’s impact. Job Requirements

  • completion of child abuse prevention training for supervisory staff within 90 days of hire
  • completion of training in working with program volunteers within 90 days of hire
  • CPR certification within 90 days of hire
  • first aid certification within 90 days of hire
  • AED certification within 90 days of hire
  • blood borne pathogens training preferred
  • bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • clean driving record

  • completion of YMCA program-specific certifications

Job Duties

  • manage and coordinate all YMCA youth development programs for assigned sites as directed
  • management of programs, including design and delivery, scheduling, supervision, and development and monitoring of program budget to meet fiscal objectives
  • promotes and incorporates the YMCA four core values and character development model into all program activities
  • hires, trains, and supervises part time program staff and volunteers
  • organization and delivery of program schedules, registrations, and statistics
  • monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program
  • secures and schedules other sites and facilities as needed
  • leads and delivers new program activities and expands mission impact within the community in accordance with the Association and branch strategic plans
  • assists in branch fund raising activities and special events
  • responds to all member and community inquiries and concerns on a daily basis
  • assist in marketing and distribution of program information, organize and schedule program registrations
  • assist in the review and processing of program scholarship applications
  • model relationship-building skills in all interactions
  • develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations
  • maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility
  • perform other duties as assigned
