Job Description

Bay Advanced Technologies, a subsidiary of Applied Fluid Power, is a leading provider of advanced fluid power solutions and a vital part of Applied Industrial Technologies, a publicly traded company on the NYSE under the ticker AIT. Founded originally in 1923, Applied Industrial Technologies has grown to become a premier value-added distributor and technical solutions provider specializing in industrial motion, fluid power, flow control, automation technologies, and related maintenance supplies. The company is renowned for delivering comprehensive knowledge and specialized services that serve MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) and OEM (original equipment manufacturer) end users in a broad range of industrial markets. Bay Advanced Technologies carries this legacy forward in the fluid power sector, emphasizing innovation, customer service, and operational excellence.

As an Applied Fluid Power subsidiary, Bay Advanced Technologies embraces an organizational culture that prioritizes safety, quality, and strategic growth within high-tech manufacturing and distribution. They focus on maintaining strong partnerships with key customers, suppliers, and stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration of cutting-edge technologies such as ERP and MRP systems to optimize operational functions. The organization is committed to equity and inclusion, providing fair treatment and growth opportunities for all employees regardless of their background.

The Operations Director role at Bay Advanced Technologies is a strategic leadership position with broad responsibilities across manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and distribution functions. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in operations management, specifically within technical manufacturing or distribution environments. The Operations Director will ensure that day-to-day operational activities align tightly with the company's strategic business objectives—focusing on profitability, productivity, and high-caliber service delivery. They will lead efforts to meet stringent production targets while upholding product quality and operational safety, championing an ingrained safety-first culture across the facility.

In this role, the Operations Director will directly oversee implementing and monitoring KPIs, fostering structured improvement initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to optimize productivity and cost-efficiency. They will also play a vital role in developing and executing forward-thinking strategic plans and identifying new market opportunities, partnerships, and product lines to drive business growth. Financial oversight duties include supporting P&L objectives, budgeting, forecasting, and deploying cost-saving strategies while maintaining compliance with financial and regulatory standards.

Moreover, this position demands exceptional leadership capabilities, with a focus on mentoring and developing cross-functional teams including production, logistics, and engineering. The Operations Director will cultivate a high-performance culture based on accountability, collaboration, and innovation while spearheading recruitment and talent development efforts to sustain operational excellence.

Success in this role also hinges on maintaining robust customer and supplier relationships to guarantee exceptional service, timely deliveries, and advantageous contract negotiations. Staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies is essential to continuously drive operational innovation and maintain the company’s competitive edge.

Compensation for this full-time position is competitive, with an estimated total annual compensation ranging between $230,000 and $290,000, including a base salary from $200,000 to $250,000 plus uncapped monthly commissions and potential performance bonuses tied to company, location, and individual metrics. The company also offers a comprehensive benefits package expected of an industry leader, encompassing medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, paid time off, and employee assistance programs.

Bay Advanced Technologies and its parent company Applied Industrial Technologies are committed to creating a diverse workplace where every qualified applicant receives fair consideration. This commitment to equity means that all candidates will be assessed without regard to age, race, gender, disability, or any other protected status under federal, state, or local laws.
