The Operations Chef role at AFC is a vital part of the team responsible for preparing and presenting sushi and hot food items in line with company standards and production plans. This temporary full-time position requires candidates to be flexible and open to working in various retail locations, sometimes including nearby cities, based on business operational needs and assignment availability. The Operations Chef will play an active role in ensuring food safety, maintaining cleanliness, managing inventory, and contributing to a smooth store operation. The position involves preparing both core menu and promotional food items with a strong focus on quality, safety, and presentation. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven culinary experience preferably as a sushi chef
- Valid Manager’s ServSafe Certification and Allergen Certificate for U.S. candidates
- Valid Food Handler’s Certification for Canadian candidates
- Flexibility to work at different locations
- Ability to travel as required
- Availability to work evenings weekends and holidays
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable and adaptable
- Willingness to perform additional duties including purchasing and delivery
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards is essential
Job Qualifications
- High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics preferred
- Proven experience as a sushi chef or similar culinary role
- Strong knife skills with knowledge of traditional and modern sushi preparation
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Manager’s ServSafe Certification and valid Allergen Certificate for U.S. candidates
- Valid Food Handler’s Certification for Canadian candidates
- Flexibility to work at different locations
- Ability to travel
- Experience with business applications such as ADP and Concur is a plus
- Availability to work evenings weekends and holidays

Job Duties
- Prepare and present high-quality sushi and hot food items including core menu and promotional offerings
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh properly stored and prepared in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
- Maintain a clean organized and sanitary workstation at all times
- Conduct regular inventory checks report shortages and assist with restocking
- Produce food items based on the Daily Production Report to meet sales and operational goals
- Accurately complete required logbooks in accordance with Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures
- Provide exceptional customer service through positive professional and courteous interactions
