The Operations Chef position at AFC is a key role within our restaurant operations team. This temporary full-time position focuses on preparing and presenting sushi and hot food items that meet the company’s high standards for quality and customer satisfaction. The role requires a dynamic individual who can adapt to a fast-paced and sometimes changing work environment due to franchise transitions and operational demands. Operating across various retail locations, including occasional travel to nearby cities, the Operations Chef must be flexible and reliable, ensuring consistent food preparation, inventory management, and exceptional customer service.
This role is perfect for a culinary professional with a strong background in sushi preparation, knife skills, and food safety knowledge. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing daily production plans based on sales goals while ensuring minimal food waste through accurate inventory control. Maintaining a sanitary and organized workspace is crucial to the position, as is the ability to collaborate respectfully with team members and management to create a welcoming atmosphere for every customer.
The Operations Chef is also responsible for maintaining all required documentation in line with company food safety protocols, including completing logbooks and adhering to Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP). Candidates must have an active Manager’s ServSafe Certification and Allergen Certificate or equivalent certifications depending on their country of residence in the U.S. or Canada. Given the nature of this position, availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is mandatory.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a sushi chef or related culinary role
- Manager’s ServSafe Certification and Allergen Certificate for U.S. candidates
- Valid Food Handler’s Certification for Canadian candidates
- Flexibility to work at different locations
- Ability to travel
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills
- Willingness to maintain personal hygiene
Job Qualifications
- High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics
- Proven experience as a sushi chef or similar culinary role
- Strong knife skills and sushi preparation techniques
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Manager’s ServSafe Certification and valid Allergen Certificate for U.S. candidates
- Valid Food Handler’s Certification for Canadian candidates
- Experience with ADP and Concur is a plus
- Ability to work quickly and maintain quality
- Ability to work well as part of a team

Job Duties
