Job Description
Yorktown Systems Group, Inc. (YSG) along with its wholly-owned subsidiaries is a prominent organization that prides itself on delivering ethical and high-quality services tailored to Government customers. Comprised primarily of a dedicated team of former military and civilian professionals, many of whom are veterans themselves, the company carries a mission rooted deeply in integrity, commitment, and customer focus. With leadership primarily formed from veterans now operating in a corporate environment, YSG brings a unique blend of military precision and corporate acumen to every project. This veteran-led approach ensures that customers' missions are not just obligations but shared objectives, underscoring the company's philosophy of doing what they say they will do and prioritizing mission success over corporate gain.
Yorktown Systems Group's business model focuses on continuous engagement with customers, maintaining close communication to accurately assess and exceed performance expectations. This customer-centric strategy, forged on principles of quality and ethics, has allowed YSG to establish long-term, trusted relationships in the government contracting space. Their commitment to equal opportunity employment and affirmative action further emphasizes their dedication to an inclusive and diverse workforce. The company explicitly prohibits discrimination in any form and embraces open compensation discussions within the bounds of ethical and legal standards.
One of YSG's wholly-owned subsidiaries, The Unconventional, LLC, benefits from the parent company's outstanding reputation and shared values. Collectively these entities contribute comprehensive support to government and military clients, leveraging their strengths in operational coordination and management.
The role being offered is for an Operations and Training Coordinator based at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) located in Colorado Springs, CO. This full-time position offers an exempt employment status and focuses on providing comprehensive warfighter training support services to the USAFA. The position is highly specialized and requires meticulous planning, coordination, and management skills to handle military training for approximately 4,200 cadets annually throughout both the academic year and intensive summer training programs.
The Operations and Training Coordinator is integral in ensuring the synchronization of training windows, readiness surge tracking, staffing coordination, subcontractor onboarding, and overall event management within the USAFA’s warfighting training oasis. Responsibilities include maintaining operational schedule discipline, managing staff readiness dependencies, and supporting surge manpower requirements such as instructor-to-cadet ratios, evaluators, observer controllers, subject matter experts, and specialty warfighter advisors. The coordinator serves as the vital link ensuring daily program continuity, facilitating stakeholder communication, and maintaining group-level integration.
Additionally, the position demands the validation of Warfighter Training Integration Solution (WTIS) candidate readiness against upcoming training windows, which encompasses verifying qualifications, onboarding statuses, safety compliance, access permissions, and adherence to event-specific requirements. The role also encompasses direct support to USAFA operational training execution, cadet assessments, and safety enforcement policies.
Preferred candidates will bring at least six years of relevant experience in training and operations coordination, ideally within military environments. Experience briefing senior leaders and developing polished written and presentation materials is also crucial. While not mandatory, prior military service as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (E7-E9) or Officer (O3-O5) with battlefield operations and training management experience at squadron or battalion levels is viewed favorably.
Security clearance eligibility is essential, with the requirement to obtain a SECRET clearance to qualify for this role. The position involves some travel and is based in Colorado Springs, CO. Yorktown Systems Group’s commitment to equal opportunity employment ensures that all applicants are considered without discrimination and that veterans and protected groups are actively welcomed and promoted. This role is ideal for driven professionals eager to leverage their operations background and military training expertise to support the development of future Air Force leaders and warfighters.
