The role of Paint Manufacturing Operator at Sherwin-Williams is an essential component of the manufacturing team responsible for producing top-quality paint and coating products through the operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. This position ensures that paint and coatings meet customer and company standards by precisely mixing and grinding raw materials. Operators in this role utilize a variety of specialized manufacturing machinery including high-speed dispersers, pumps, valves, and material handling equipment such as forklifts. This position requires adherence to strict safety and quality control protocols to maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment.

Working the D shift from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am on a 2-2-3 schedule, the Paint Manufacturing Operator collaborates closely with other departments and team members to meet production goals on time while maintaining equipment logs, performing minor repairs, and reporting issues promptly. The role emphasizes continuous improvement, encouraging operators to contribute ideas for optimizing manufacturing procedures and enhancing operational efficiency.   • Must be at least eighteen years of age

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least eighteen years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Have at least one year of experience working in a manufacturing and/or distribution facility
  • Have at least one year of work experience monitoring gauges, dials, or other machinery indicators to ensure proper operation of machinery
  • Have at least one year of work experience operating machinery in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
  • Have at least one year of work experience monitoring the quality of raw materials and/or finished goods
  • Have at least one year of work experience using material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, order pickers, vacuum hoists, drum dollies, conveyor belts
  • Have at least one year of work experience mixing or blending raw materials and making a product in an industrial batch process

Job Duties

  • Operate paint-making control systems and manufacturing equipment such as high-speed dispersers, pumps, valves, battery chargers, drum handling equipment, and forklifts
  • Prebatch and inspect tickets
  • Operate all drop stations and meters, including water, TiO2, slurry
  • Follow batch slip instructions and monitor batch to obtain proper grind or mix
  • Measure tanks for yield
  • Monitor raw materials and finished goods for quality
  • Comply with policies and standard operating procedures
  • Keep equipment logs, perform minor repairs, and report breakdowns in a timely manner
  • Maintain production records and reporting as required
  • Collaborate with other departments to complete production orders on time
  • Monitor and replenish inventory of parts and supplies
  • Provide technical support and training to other team members
  • Contribute ideas to improve or optimize manufacturing procedures
  • Keep tools, equipment, and the work environment clean and organized daily
