The role of Operating Room Supervisor is central to the smooth coordination and execution of surgical procedures within this highly regarded facility. The Operating Room Supervisor, who must be a Registered Nurse, plays a pivotal role in overseeing daily OR operations to ensure that surgeries flow seamlessly and efficiently. This leadership position requires a professional who can effectively manage OR staff, coordinate daily case scheduling, and foster communication between the clinical team and physicians to resolve any issues that arise during surgeries. The supervisor is also responsible for organizing monthly staff meetings, managing inventory and supplies by working closely with the Materials Manager, and supporting educational initiatives by coordinating or delivering ongoing in-services. Collaborating closely with the Clinical Director, the Operating Room Supervisor also participates in the hiring and orientation processes to integrate new team members smoothly. Job Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing
  • Current RN license
  • Three years experience in operating room
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledgeable of surgery center policies and procedures specific to the operating room

Job Duties

  • Supervise the OR staff to provide a daily smooth flow of cases
  • Assist in coordination of daily case scheduling in the OR with other staff to ensure schedule will flow smoothly
  • Prepare, coordinate and perform monthly OR staff meetings for all OR techs
  • Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and provide efficiency and smooth case flow
  • Work with Materials Manager to order instruments and equipment for cases
  • Coordinate inventory semi-annually in all areas of the OR
  • Assist with OR education by coordinating and/or giving in-services
  • Work closely with Clinical Director in hiring and orienting OR staff members
