Baylor Scott & White Surgicare - North Garland is a premier multi-specialty outpatient surgical facility dedicated to delivering exceptional surgical care in a supportive and innovative environment. The Operating Room Supervisor role at Baylor Scott & White Surgicare - North Garland is a pivotal position designed to support and enhance the daily functioning of the surgical department. This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with leadership qualities, who thrives in a dynamic surgical environment and is passionate about facilitating smooth, efficient case flows. The OR Supervisor plays an essential part in managing surgical staff, coordinating daily schedules, and ensuring that all surgical procedures and operations maintain the highest standards of quality and safety. This role also demands close collaboration with surgeons, nursing staff, and materials management to optimize the use of resources and ensure operational excellence.

As an Operating Room Supervisor, you will be responsible for directly overseeing the daily activities within the operating rooms, ensuring that a seamless and efficient workflow is maintained throughout the day. The position requires effective problem-solving skills to quickly address and resolve any operational issues that arise, always prioritizing patient safety and care quality. You will coordinate with surgeons to address scheduling and procedural adjustments, supervise the instrumentation and equipment needs, and assist in the ongoing education of OR personnel. Planning and conducting staff meetings, managing inventory, and fostering a team-oriented environment are also key components of this role.

Job Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing
  • current RN license
  • three years experience in operating room
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • excellent communication skills
  • knowledgeable of surgery center policies and procedures specific to the operating room

Job Duties

  • Supervise the OR staff to provide a daily smooth flow of cases
  • assist in coordination of daily case scheduling in the OR with other staff to ensure schedule will flow smoothly
  • prepare, coordinate and perform monthly OR staff meetings for all OR techs
  • communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and provide efficiency and smooth case flow
  • work with Materials Manager to order instruments and equipment for cases
  • coordinate inventory semi-annually in all areas of the OR
  • assist with OR education by coordinating and/or giving in-services
  • work closely with Clinical Director in hiring and orienting OR staff members
