This full-time position involves working three 12-hour shifts from early morning to evening, supporting a fast-paced, high-acuity operating room environment dedicated to complex cardiac procedures. Job Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Minimum 2 years operating room nurse experience
  • Minimum 1 year cardiac OR specialty experience
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and nursing ethics
  • Ability to work full-time 3x12 hour shifts (6:30 AM to 7:00 PM)

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with general computer skills including Microsoft Office and electronic medical records

Job Duties

  • Coordinate patient care using BSWH nursing model
  • Assess patients and identify nursing diagnoses
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Evaluate patient responses and modify care plans accordingly
  • Support complex cardiac surgical procedures including transplants and valve replacements
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives
  • Facilitate learning and education for patients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Advocate for patient rights and ethical practice
  • Monitor and document patient conditions and communicate changes promptly
  • Delegate nursing interventions as per Texas Nursing Practice Act
  • Maintain knowledge of nursing standards, laws, and procedures
  • Use clinical judgment to prioritize patient needs
  • Ensure a therapeutic and safe environment for all patients and staff
