The Operating Partner position is a pivotal leadership role within Whataburger's restaurant operations. The Operating Partner leads a team of Family Members, coordinating staffing, training, and development to uphold the brand's high standards. Financial stewardship is a key part of this role, including managing profit and loss, controlling cash reporting, labor costs, food expenses, and maintenance budgets.

In addition to financial management, the Operating Partner is charged with executing operational plans in collaboration with Managers and the Market Leader to meet business objectives. Monitoring restaurant performance through various reporting tools and customer metrics allows the partner to identify improvement opportunities and maintain optimal labor utilization. Maintaining safety protocols and promoting food safety policies is also essential, ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with regulatory standards.

The role also emphasizes exceptional leadership skills, including talent acquisition and retention, coaching, and performance evaluations. The Operating Partner plays a crucial role in fostering a positive work environment while building strong customer relationships and handling customer feedback effectively. Furthermore, they lead the rollout and adoption of company change initiatives, such as new product launches, systems implementations, and marketing campaigns.

Job Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience
  • minimum 2 years of management experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry

Job Duties

  • Manages profit and loss, oversees financial tasks such as cash reporting, labor, food expenses, repairs, and maintenance
  • responsible for attracting and retaining talent through key hiring decisions, growth and development plans, and regular performance assessments
  • works with managers and the market leader to execute operational plans
  • monitors restaurant performance and processes utilizing reporting tools, customer metrics, and labor metrics
  • maintains restaurant safety protocols through promotion of all food safety policies, procedures, tools, and systems and creation of a safe work environment
  • builds relationships with customers and resolves customer complaints
  • responsible for rollout and adoption of all change initiatives, to include new products, systems, company campaigns and strategies
