Job Description
Wendy's is one of the world's leading fast-food restaurant chains and is renowned for its quality ingredients and fresh menu offerings. Founded in 1969, Wendy's operates with a focus on delivering great-tasting food and excellent customer experiences at a fast pace. This particular opportunity is with a franchise location situated at 5525 Chinden Boulevard, Garden City, Idaho. The franchise is independently owned and operated, allowing it to customize its compensation, benefits, and career programs to meet the needs of its team and local community. Wendy's prides itself on creating a positive, respectful, and motivating work environment that empowers its employees to grow and succeed within the company's organizational structure. As a globally recognized brand, Wendy's combines tradition with innovation, offering a forward-thinking but supportive setting for career development.
The role of an Open/Close Shift Manager at Wendy's is a critical leadership position within the restaurant. This manager will assume responsibility for supervising, coordinating, and delegating all opening and closing operations. Their primary duties ensure that the restaurant opens and closes on time while maintaining strict adherence to cleanliness, food safety standards, and line preparation procedures. The Open/Close Shift Manager is called upon to lead a productive, safe, and customer-focused workplace, making sure every shift runs efficiently and effectively to maximize profitability. This position requires multifaceted leadership — from coaching and mentoring crew members and team trainers to partnering with restaurant management to optimize labor and food cost controls.
As the shift manager, you will play a vital role in fostering a team environment where recognition, professional growth, and operational excellence are prioritized. You will act as the Operations Leader by organizing shifts and executing the daily operations plan, ensuring that each phase from opening through post-rush activities is handled with excellence and labor efficiency. Part of your responsibilities will include cash management duties, such as setting up and reconciling cash registers, and maintaining safe cash procedures throughout the shift. Your guidance will be pivotal in training and developing employees, utilizing tools like flow charts, checklists, and collaborative meetings, to maintain service standards and customer satisfaction.
Additionally, the Open/Close Shift Manager is responsible for conducting thorough walk-throughs to verify the restaurant’s readiness for service periods and for contributing to operational improvements. This role plays an essential part in managing labor by scheduling breaks and overseeing shift labor hours, as well as controlling food costs by monitoring waste and conducting inventory counts. Ensuring the completion of weekly and positional cleaning schedules is also part of your leadership role to guarantee a safe and sanitized environment.
Candidates for this role can expect a supportive work culture with opportunities for advancement, free meals, paid vacation, medical, dental, and vision benefits, as well as other employee perks like shoe credits and pay-for-grades programs. Wendy's values work-life balance along with creating a team atmosphere that is fun and rewarding. The company also offers annual performance reviews with wage increases based on merit. While this opportunity is with a franchisee, it reflects Wendy's overall commitment to fostering employee potential and delivering customer satisfaction in a friendly and professional setting.
