Job Description
Newport Healthcare is a leading provider of behavioral health services known for its comprehensive and compassionate approach to mental health care. With a focus on evidence-based treatment, Newport Healthcare offers various programs dedicated to helping adolescent and young adult patients overcome challenges related to mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and co-occurring issues. Located in Kirkland and Snohomish, Washington, Newport Healthcare operates residential programs as well as inpatient hospital and outpatient services including Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP). Committed to delivering trauma-informed care, Newport Healthcare ensures a safe, structured, and supportive environment where patients can thrive and heal.
The role of Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) at Newport Healthcare is a crucial position within their residential treatment programs. This full-time position offers competitive pay ranging from $21.50 to $25.50 hourly—dependent on education and experience—and supports shifts during the morning, evening, overnight, weekends, and holidays. The BHS is responsible for fostering a therapeutic environment that promotes healing through compassionate supervision, engagement in activities, and emotional support. This position is ideal for both newcomers and experienced professionals who have at least a high school diploma or GED and hold a valid driver’s license. Additionally, candidates must obtain CPI and CPR certification within the first month on the job.
As a frontline team member, the Behavioral Health Specialist plays an integral role in shaping patients’ daily experiences by creating safety and connection that facilitate emotional well-being. The BHS guides patients throughout their day, helps lead mindfulness and recreational activities, models healthy coping mechanisms, and collaborates with clinical teams to support individualized treatment plans. The role demands flexibility and the ability to manage high-stress situations with calm professionalism while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards. Extensive training and ongoing development is provided to reinforce clinical skills and promote career growth opportunities within the organization. Overall, Newport Healthcare offers a supportive culture grounded in core values of placing the patient first, compassion, integrity, and connection, all aimed at transforming the lives of young people from struggling to thriving.
