The role of Oncology Territory Manager, Lung, located in Sioux Falls, SD, represents a critical position within Daiichi Sankyo's oncology division. The Oncology Territory Manager serves as the primary company representative to healthcare professionals in the assigned territory, promoting Daiichi Sankyo's lung cancer products. This role involves maintaining expert knowledge on relevant disease states, assigned product indications, and competitor product offerings. By providing accurate, approved information and resources about the product and disease states, the Oncology Territory Manager supports physicians and other key stakeholders in making informed treatment decisions.
The position requires developing and executing comprehensive business plans tailored to the territory while applying deep knowledge of healthcare industry trends, legal regulations, market conditions, and the payer reimbursement environment. This includes understanding clinical pathways, pharmacy economics, and patient flow between academic institutions, hospitals, and community practices. The Oncology Territory Manager is expected to meet or exceed sales objectives by effectively communicating product benefits and fostering strong relationships with healthcare providers, key opinion leaders, and internal teams such as district management and co-promote peers.
Compliance with all relevant regulations and company standards is critical in this role, alongside maintaining accurate reports, databases, and administrative tasks such as budgeting and communication. The Oncology Territory Manager also leverages sales force automation tools and other technology to optimize territory management and sales effectiveness. Job Requirements
- Must be able to travel approximately 40 to 60 percent
- Must have a valid driver's license with driving record that meets company standards
- Minimum four years of sales or marketing experience in pharmaceutical or medical industry
- Bachelor's degree required
- Ability to meet company compliance and ethical standards
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Four or more years of sales or marketing experience in pharmaceutical or medical industry
- Strongly preferred four or more years of oncology therapeutic experience
- Preferred additional experience in training, marketing, or market access roles
- Preferred oncology product launch experience
- Copromotion experience is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Job Duties
- Represent assigned products to healthcare professionals in sales territory
- Achieve or exceed sales objectives by promoting product features and benefits
- Develop and execute comprehensive business plans
- Apply healthcare industry knowledge including laws, regulations, market conditions, and reimbursement landscape
- Demonstrate understanding of clinical pathways affecting patient treatment
- Analyze customer needs, territory performance, and business trends to optimize commercial potential
- Maintain expert understanding of disease states, company brands, and competitor products
- Complete all assigned training
- Serve as disease state expert providing high level product expertise and customer service
- Communicate regularly with District Manager and internal teams
- Build relationships with customers and key opinion leaders
- Meet all administrative expectations including budgets and reporting
- Maintain current customer target lists and update databases
- Review performance reports with District Manager
- Submit timely completed reports and communicate market relevant matters
- Maintain equipment and records properly
- Utilize sales force automation and other systems for sales enhancement
- Adhere to compliance and operating principles
