The Registered Pharmacy Technician role at Moffitt Cancer Center is an essential position that supports the pharmacy operations under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists. This role demands a skilled professional who performs an array of pharmacy tasks that do not fall under the purview of Florida Statute 465.003(13), such as processing prescriptions, managing medication orders, facilitating communications with patients and healthcare providers, and assisting with patient appointment and medical record reviews. The technician will also handle specialized responsibilities including the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical and investigational medications following stringent standards like those set forth by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and United States Pharmacopeia (USP).

Registered Pharmacy Technicians at Moffitt play a vital role in the preparation and compounding of both sterile and non-sterile medications, including hazardous and investigational drugs used in clinical trials, especially those related to cancer treatment. The position requires adherence to high-quality standards and compliance with regulations concerning Risk Evaluation Mitigation Strategies (REMS) medications. Additionally, these technicians maintain medication inventory, oversee record-keeping, generate legally mandated reports, and manage prescriptions within multiple Moffitt Ambulatory Center (MAC) locations, necessitating flexibility and willingness to travel between sites.

This is a full-time employment position offering an hourly salary of $27.25. The chosen candidate will be entrusted with a diverse set of responsibilities that demand attention to detail, adherence to compliance standards, and an unwavering commitment to patient safety and care excellence. This role is well-suited for individuals with an Associate’s degree in Pharmacy Management or related fields such as Business, Medical Assisting, Communication, Health Information Technology, Accounting, or Finance, combined with accredited pharmacy technician training or qualifying experience per Florida Statutes. Experience with pharmacy automation software, sterile intravenous medication preparation, and investigational medication management—particularly in oncology settings—is highly valued.
