The role of the Registered Pharmacy Technician at Moffitt Cancer Center is an essential position contributing to the smooth operation of pharmacy services and ultimately supporting patient care. This position supports licensed pharmacists by performing delegated tasks that are vital to the preparation, processing, and distribution of medications. Operating under strict adherence to Florida Statute 465 and the supervision of licensed pharmacists, the pharmacy technician plays a significant role in communication with patients, providers, and care teams to facilitate treatment plans including refill authorizations, insurance approvals, and review of medical records. The role also involves handling investigational medications used in clinical trials following federal regulations such as the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, as well as medications linked to Risk Evaluation Mitigation Strategies (REMS).

Additionally, the position requires competency in pharmaceutical compounding, preparation, and distribution aligned with USP standards and hospital policies. Inventory stewardship is a critical responsibility, ensuring that medication stock levels are maintained, documented, and compliant with legal and hospital requirements. The pharmacy technician will maintain accurate records and assist in generating reports that support compliance and operational efficiency.

Ideal candidates for this role possess a high school diploma or GED and have completed an accredited pharmacy technician training program or hold sufficient experience to qualify for licensure under Florida law. Being a Registered Pharmacy Technician is mandatory, and experience with outpatient pharmacy orders, inventory management systems, prescription processing, prior authorizations, and patient assistance programs is preferred. The comprehensive salary range for this position is between $21.12 and $32.24 per hour, with compensation determined by factors such as location, experience, education, and internal equity.
