Job Description

BayCare Health System stands as one of the most reputable and comprehensive healthcare providers in the Tampa Bay region. As a vast healthcare network comprising 16 community-based hospitals, a long-term acute care facility, home health services, outpatient centers, and thousands of physicians, BayCare is committed to advancing health and wellness across diverse communities. With a workforce of over 30,000 dedicated team members, BayCare emphasizes a culture rooted in trust, dignity, respect, responsibility, and clinical excellence. This foundation enables BayCare to deliver exceptional patient care and community health services while fostering an environment that promotes continuous professional growth and innovation. The organization’s extensive reach and multidisciplinary approach facilitate health initiatives that significantly impact the well-being of the populations served, particularly in the Tampa Bay area and its surrounding counties. BayCare’s dedication to a forward-thinking philosophy ensures that the organization remains adaptive and responsive to evolving healthcare needs and challenges.

The role of Community Health Event Coordinator - PRN for the Hillsborough region represents a vital link between BayCare and the communities it serves. This position entails the management and coordination of community and corporate health events aimed at promoting wellness and health education in a hands-on, engaging way. As the on-site coordinator, the incumbent will oversee the entire logistics process, including setup, breakdown, and transportation of event materials, making certain that every detail is executed seamlessly. This role requires strong organization and multi-tasking skills, as the coordinator must manage on-site teams effectively while maintaining compliance with intricate health regulations such as HIPAA for documentation and confidentiality. The coordinator’s responsibilities extend beyond operations management—they are also key health ambassadors engaging with event attendees to deliver meaningful health education, conduct health screenings, and identify risk factors that may affect participants’ well-being. By promoting lifestyle changes and empowering the community through information and resources, the coordinator contributes directly to BayCare’s public health mission.

Moreover, this position involves oversight of site safety, inventory control, staff training, and event performance to ensure all activities conform to BayCare’s high standards. The role is fundamentally dynamic and requires adaptability as event shifts vary from 2 to 8 hours, occurring both on weekdays and weekends. The community health events take place primarily within Hillsborough County and occasionally extend to neighboring counties, demanding reliable transportation and flexibility from the coordinator. The position is categorized as PRN (pro re nata), offering as-needed employment with schedules provided 2 to 4 weeks in advance, suitable for professionals seeking a rewarding part-time opportunity in the healthcare sector.

This Community Health Event Coordinator role is an excellent opportunity for candidates passionate about public health, wellness promotion, and community engagement to leverage their skills in project management and healthcare knowledge. Candidates will need to demonstrate experience in managing health-related projects, a relevant educational background, and the ability to navigate event logistics effectively. Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) from recognized organizations, along with clearances like the AHCA Level 2 background check, are essential to meet compliance and safety requirements. Overall, this role is integral to facilitating impactful health outreach initiatives, fostering community ties, and advancing BayCare’s vision of excellence in healthcare delivery across the Hillsborough region and beyond.
