This position is an onsite, part-time role located in Seattle, offering an hourly wage of $21.30. Although this role does not qualify for the full range of company benefits, it does include sick time accrual for those working 20 hours or more per week. The role primarily involves front desk operations and customer service, acting as the first point of contact for all visitors and callers at Cascade PBS. This vital role helps maintain the positive and professional image of the station by ensuring a smooth and welcoming reception experience for guests and staff alike.
The receptionist will be responsible for greeting and directing visitors, managing incoming phone calls through a multi-line telephone system, handling mail and courier services, and ensuring compliance with current health and safety protocols including COVID-19 guidelines. Additionally, the individual will oversee the lobby area’s organization and cleanliness, manage visitor badges, and work collaboratively with other departments for efficient communication and workflow. The receptionist will also provide administrative support such as inventory management for office and kitchen supplies, equipment service requests, and occasional support during special events.
This role demands excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and other office technology. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent along with at least one year of experience in receptionist or customer service duties, preferably with experience using a multi-line phone system. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 55 pounds, perform various physical tasks, and flexibility to work some evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- one-year receptionist and/or customer service experience
- one-year experience with multi-line telephone system strongly preferred

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Provide excellent customer service by being professional, courteous, friendly and prompt
- open and secure Cascade PBS lobby area and keep the area orderly and free of clutter
- greet and direct station guests and visitors
- handle and route internal and external calls and paging on a multi-line phone system
- refer questions and requests for information to the appropriate departments (e.g. Programming, Customer Service, Engineering, Accounting)
- accept and monitor incoming and outgoing courier deliveries including UPS and FedEx
- distribute and collect ID badges for vendors and guests, as well as tracking temporary use badges
- initiate and enforce compliance with COVID-19 protocols required to enter the building
- maintain confidentiality as appropriate
- open, sort, mark as received, and distribute daily incoming mail to internal mailboxes
- process and prepare outgoing mail
- inform recipients of incoming packages and maintain staff mailboxes
- communicate any general office equipment service needs to IT
- inventory and order lunchroom and general office supplies
- empty dishwasher each morning, restock kitchen after mail duties
- perform duties on admin task list
- staff reception desk during special events as assigned
- collaborate with other team members to foster a positive and productive culture and contribute toward the overall growth of Cascade PBS
- other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
