Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) is a well-established nonprofit, faith-based organization based in St. Paul, Minnesota, dedicated to providing high-quality housing, care, and service options for older adults. With a reputation built since its founding in 1955, PHS stands as one of the largest nonprofit providers of senior housing and services in the United States. They serve more than 41,800 older adults across 60 affiliated senior living communities located in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin, extending their care through Optage home and community services. PHS is also co-owner of Genevive, the largest geriatric primary care practice in Minnesota, which provides comprehensive medical care to over 15,500 older adults. Their mission is centered on promoting independence, purposeful living, and overall well-being for the individuals they serve, delivering a safe and supportive environment for aging adults.
Johanna Shores, one of the PHS communities, is located in Arden Hills, Minnesota, situated on the picturesque shores of Lake Johanna. As an on-call employee, this role offers flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to the health, safety, and comfort of residents by upholding uncompromising standards of cleanliness. The position reports directly to the Housekeeping Services Manager and involves performing a variety of housekeeping duties including general cleaning, floor care, sanitizing, furniture and fixture polishing, waste removal, supply stocking, window cleaning, and linen management. Additional tasks include collecting and sorting laundry from resident rooms, labeling and distributing linens and personal clothing, ironing when necessary, inspecting laundry quality, and communicating replacement needs to supervisors to facilitate effective service delivery.
This role calls for individuals who possess personal integrity, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills, enabling them to interact effectively with residents, their families, coworkers, and visitors. The position also requires the ability to follow directions, prioritize job duties, and work cooperatively with other team members. A demonstrated compatibility with the mission and operating philosophies of PHS is essential, along with proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English to communicate clearly with all customers. The starting pay range for this on-call role is approximately $19.09 to $20.59 per hour, reflecting PHS’s commitment to competitive and fair compensation based on qualifications and market conditions.
With eligibility for benefits beginning at 30 hours per week for full-time employees, and scaled offerings for part-time staff working 20-29 hours, PHS extends comprehensive health, dental, vision, retirement plans, life insurance, educational assistance, and paid time off among other benefits. Employees are also supported with programs such as employee assistance, same-day pay, and college partnership discounts. Working at Johanna Shores means becoming part of a legacy committed to enriching the lives of older adults and fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace community.
