Job Description

Trefethen Family Vineyards is a distinguished family-owned estate vineyard and winery located in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. With a rich history spanning over 50 years, Trefethen has been dedicated to crafting world-class wines using estate-grown grapes. Their historic winery, originally built in 1886, serves as the centerpiece of the estate and is surrounded by lush vineyards, attracting numerous visitors annually. This combination of heritage, tradition, and commitment to quality positions Trefethen as a premier destination for wine enthusiasts and guests looking for an authentic Napa Valley wine experience.

The company is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a full-time, non-exempt Hospitality Steward to join their enthusiastic hospitality team. The pay range for this position is $19.50 to $21.00 per hour, with the final rate determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and skills. This Transparent Pay Disclosure reflects Trefethen’s commitment to fair compensation practices.

The role of the Hospitality Steward is vital to the smooth operation of the estate's hospitality services. This customer-facing position supports various guest experiences by managing the setup and breakdown of wine and food tastings, maintaining cleanliness and presentation in all guest-facing areas, and ensuring all supplies, including glassware, are clean and ready for use. Hospitality Stewards play a key supportive role during events, working closely with Estate Concierges, Wine Educators, the Winery Chef, and the Events Manager. They are involved in critical behind-the-scenes functions such as preparing wine for walk-out purchases, assisting guests occasionally by carrying wine to their vehicles, and helping escort guests to and from their tasting experiences.

Daily responsibilities focus heavily on maintaining a high standard of hospitality and cleanliness throughout the estate. This includes washing and polishing glassware, maintaining tasting and special event supplies, ensuring guest bathrooms remain tidy, and keeping the “back of the house” areas neat and orderly. During special events, the Steward helps with setting up tables, chairs, linens, flatware, and glassware, serving food and wine occasionally, and transport of event rentals and equipment to designated venues.

Candidates for this role should possess a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and an excellent attention to detail. The ideal Hospitality Steward is proactive in identifying tasks that need completion and thrives in a dynamic environment where priorities can change frequently. Professional appearance and business casual dress code are expected. The position requires working in a team-oriented environment with a commitment to supporting colleagues and delivering exceptional guest service. Physical stamina is necessary as the role involves standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasional bending, stooping, or climbing stairs. Work schedules will include weekends and holidays, reflecting the needs of the hospitality industry.

Joining Trefethen Family Vineyards as a Hospitality Steward means becoming part of a team that cherishes both its historical roots and its passionate approach to hospitality. The role offers the opportunity to work in a scenic vineyard setting, surrounded by the beauty of Napa Valley, while contributing to memorable wine experiences for guests. Hospitality Stewards play an essential role in upholding the estate's reputation for excellence and warmth, making this position ideal for driven individuals eager to grow within the wine and hospitality industries.
