Job Description
Embark Hurricane is a residential treatment center located in Hurricane, Utah, specializing in the stabilization and assessment of highly acute adolescent boys aged 12 to 17 and their families. As part of the Embark network, the center is committed to providing therapeutic and healing services that are enriched by the diversity of its employees and community. With a strong mission to support adolescents during critical periods of stabilization, Embark Hurricane combines clinical expertise with compassionate care to foster positive outcomes for its clients. The organization values inclusivity and actively promotes equal employment opportunities, embracing diversity in all its forms including gender, race, disability, and veteran status. This commitment extends to creating a supportive workplace where every employee feels valued and can contribute to the center’s therapeutic goals.
The role available is for a Cook supporting the Stabilization and Assessment program. This is an on-call position for someone who desires flexible working hours, ideal for picking up shifts when available. The pay ranges from $15.00 to $20.00 per hour. Kitchen hours run Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM, and Saturday through Sunday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. This position involves preparing meals independently for small personalized groups, enhancing your cooking skills while making a meaningful impact through food.
As a Cook at Embark Hurricane, you will be responsible for preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for both clients and staff during your shift. Additionally, you will provide mid-meal snacks to ensure food is always available. The role requires assistance with food preparation and storage while maintaining the kitchen's cleanliness, orderliness, and safety. You will also prepare food ahead of time for the following day’s menu. This role demands a self-motivated and independent cook who thrives in an autonomous work environment and has a servant heart, appreciating the purpose behind the food prepared. Adapting to the special dietary needs of the clients is a critical aspect of the job, highlighting the importance of skill and flexibility in food preparation.
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of cooking experience, hold a current Food Handler's Permit, and possess a valid Driver’s License. Knowledge of health codes and proper sanitation practices is essential to meet the health and safety standards expected in a residential treatment setting. Embark values a diverse workforce and seeks individuals who are passionate about contributing to the therapeutic environment through culinary excellence. This role is perfect for cooks who enjoy working independently, have a heart for service, and want to help support adolescent clients and staff through nutritious and thoughtfully prepared meals.
