Job Description

The American Cancer Society is a leading nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. With the unwavering support of its 1.3 million volunteers and dedicated employees, the Society continues to make tremendous progress in cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient services. With a rich history of impact and service, the American Cancer Society is known for its compassionate approach and commitment to offering hope and support to those affected by cancer across diverse communities. The organization's culture embraces diversity and inclusion, fostering an environment where employees from all backgrounds come together motivated by a shared mission to save lives and improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families.

At the American Cancer Society, being part of the team means more than just having a job. It is a calling to commit to a purpose that genuinely changes lives. As an organization, they emphasize personal fulfillment for their employees through meaningful work and ongoing professional development opportunities. The American Cancer Society offers competitive compensation, including a pay rate of $18.59 per hour for the Concierge role, and comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and generous paid time off. This particular position primarily covers overnight shifts, including responsibilities during weekends and daytime hours, reflecting the organization's need to provide unwavering support around the clock.

The Concierge serves as the crucial first point of contact for guests at the Society’s lodge. This role is vital in managing front desk operations while creating a welcoming, safe, and supportive atmosphere for all visitors. The Concierge assists guests with check-in and check-out procedures, responds to various inquiries, and helps coordinate transportation and security to ensure smooth and secure experiences. Beyond simply greeting guests, the role requires attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This position demands not only technical skills such as proficiency with Microsoft Office and multi-line phone systems but also interpersonal abilities to connect with guests compassionately and efficiently. The Concierge plays an essential role in upholding the Society’s mission by fostering an environment that supports guests who may be dealing with challenging circumstances related to cancer treatment and recovery. Overall, this position offers a unique and rewarding opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a worthy cause while developing valuable professional skills within a supportive and mission-driven organization.
