Job Description
The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. With the support of 1.3 million volunteers and a committed staff, ACS leads the fight against cancer through research, education, advocacy, and patient services. Known for its compassionate, community-oriented approach, the society provides a wide range of programs aimed at assisting cancer patients, survivors, and their families. As a nonprofit organization, ACS is driven by a lifesaving mission to improve the lives of those affected by cancer while working towards a future free from this disease. The society values diversity and inclusivity, embracing employees from varied backgrounds and experiences to better serve the communities they reach across the country.
The Concierge position at the American Cancer Society serves as a pivotal first point of contact for guests, ensuring a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment at their lodge or facility. This role is integral to managing front desk operations, including guest check-in and check-out processes, providing information about amenities and community resources, and coordinating necessary transportation and security services. The Concierge is responsible for making guests feel comfortable and supported by responding efficiently to inquiries, concerns, and emergencies, thereby facilitating a smooth and positive experience. The pay rate for this position is $18.59 per hour, and it requires someone who is personable, organized, and capable of multitasking in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
In addition to managing front desk duties, the Concierge also plays a key role in maintaining accurate guest records and ensuring the lobby remains secure with implemented safety protocols. The position demands strong communication skills, proficiency with administrative tools such as Microsoft Office and multi-line phone systems, and excellent customer service capabilities. Guest interactions often require physical endurance, including standing for extended periods, occasional lifting of luggage or packages, and assisting guests with various manual tasks. Flexible availability, including the ability to work evenings and weekends, is essential for fulfilling the responsibilities of this role.
American Cancer Society not only offers an impactful work environment but also supports its employees through a generous benefits package. This includes paid time off, medical and dental insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and opportunities for professional development to enhance employee skills. This role is ideal for individuals who wish to contribute to a meaningful cause while developing their career in hospitality and guest services within a non-profit organization committed to health and wellness.
