Known for its unique blend of full-service and focused hotels in major urban centers, Sonesta boasts a diverse portfolio that includes owned, managed, and franchised properties. This extensive range of accommodations places the company in prime locations "everywhere you want to be." At the heart of Sonesta's philosophy is a commitment to hospitality driven by the human element, delivering service with passion, loyalty with purpose, and offering experiences that create genuine connections with guests. With over 1000 properties spread across eight countries, Sonesta International Hotels stands as a global leader in providing exceptional hospitality. The company cultivates a culture where associates thrive collectively, fostering a work environment that emphasizes quality, value, and outstanding guest service with every stay.
The role available is an exciting opportunity to join Sonesta as a Banquet Bartender. This position plays an essential part in the food and beverage team, primarily responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages during banquet and catering events. The Banquet Bartender is tasked with setting up the banquet bar, including liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware, and other necessary supplies. This role demands professionalism and adherence to established standards, especially regarding responsible alcohol service. The bartender will engage with guests as they approach the bar, promote signature house drinks, and employ up-selling techniques to maximize sales.
Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate inventory of liquor and beverages, performing both pre- and post-shift sidework duties, and following established drink recipes and pouring standards to ensure product consistency and cost control. This position requires vigilance in monitoring guest behavior to prevent overconsumption and ensure safety. It also mandates strict compliance with state laws, including age verification for alcohol service and securing liquor and financial transactions. Moreover, the Banquet Bartender completes required documentation such as consumption and incident reports and assists with replenishing supplies and minimizing waste.
Ideal candidates possess specialized knowledge of bartending, including familiarity with liquor brands, beers, wines, champagnes, non-alcoholic beverages, glassware, preparation methods, and garnishments. Formal bartending training is preferred but not mandatory, and candidates must meet state legal age requirements and speak fluent English. This position requires a physical ability to carry or lift heavy items, frequently move around the bar and kitchen, and perform physical tasks such as bending and kneeling. Effective communication and math skills are crucial for interacting with guests and handling transactions. Candidates must also possess alcohol awareness certification or relevant food service permits as mandated by local or state authorities. The position may require working nights, weekends, or holidays.
Joining Sonesta International Hotels means becoming part of a respected hospitality leader that values its employees and offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans with company match, paid time off, hotel discounts, and educational assistance. As an equal opportunity employer, Sonesta embraces diversity and inclusion, ensuring all qualified applicants receive fair consideration. This opportunity is perfect for individuals committed to delivering excellent guest service and growing within a dynamic, fast-growing hospitality company.
