Located in the serene and picturesque area of Ojai, California, this establishment offers a unique blend of historic charm and modern elegance. As a top-tier resort, it caters to discerning guests seeking a memorable stay characterized by impeccable service, exquisite dining, and a tranquil environment. The resort is deeply invested in fostering a professional culture that prioritizes integrity, teamwork, and guest satisfaction, making it a desired workplace for hospitality professionals who share a passion for excellence. The employment provided here is typically full-time, with the opportunity to work in a dynamic, customer-focused setting that values quality and professionalism. Compensation is competitive and reflects the high standards and expectations that come with serving at such a renowned property.
The Food Runner role at The Ojai Valley Inn plays a critical function in the smooth operation and elevated service standards of the resort's dining experience. The person in this position is tasked with the vital responsibility of setting up for service and efficiently delivering food to guests in the restaurant, directly influencing the overall guest satisfaction levels. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a keen eye for detail, and have a genuine enthusiasm for service mastery. Serving as the essential link between the kitchen and the dining area, the Food Runner ensures that every guest's meal is delivered promptly and correctly, maintaining the resort's prestigious standards of presentation, service, and guest interaction.
Beyond the primary duties, the Food Runner is expected to maintain constant awareness of the restaurant environment, proactively engage with guests, anticipate their needs, and exhibit initiative in enhancing their dining experience. Professionalism is a cornerstone of this role, requiring adherence to the Ojai Valley Inn's standards of appearance, behavior, and communication. This extends to following specific protocols related to body language, verbiage, and safety, thereby ensuring a harmonious and safe workplace and guest area. In addition, the Food Runner collaborates seamlessly with other team members, including servers, chefs, and management, fostering a cooperative atmosphere that elevates the overall service quality.
The role demands physical stamina and dexterity, as continuous standing, walking, bending, and lifting are routine. Preparing condiments, linens, and setting up trays are part of the preparatory responsibilities before and throughout service. With a minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in an upscale food and beverage environment, the ideal candidate will be adept at managing multiple tasks, communicating effectively in English, and delivering swift, attentive service. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential, as is the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. This position offers a valuable opportunity for candidates eager to contribute to a celebrated resort's dining services while advancing their careers in luxury hospitality.
