Job Description
McMenamins Old St. Francis is part of McMenamins, a family-owned company rooted in Oregon and Washington, known for its unique blend of handcrafted beer, wine, cider, spirits, and coffee. Since its inception, McMenamins has cultivated a distinctive experience by combining its passion for excellent beverages with good, honest pub fare served in a variety of environments ranging from cozy neighborhood pubs to historic hotels. The company is deeply committed to the preservation and resurrection of historic buildings, investing in large and small Northwest communities while supporting local schools and nonprofits. Their locations are vibrant hubs for community engagement, offering spaces where people can gather to relax, converse, enjoy live music, and celebrate art and history. They emphasize Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, welcoming individuals from diverse backgrounds and fostering a collaborative and supportive work culture. McMenamins also supports local businesses through collaborative products and sponsorships, strengthening the economic and social fabric of each community they serve.
The Server role at McMenamins Old St. Francis offers a dynamic opportunity to be part of this well-established and respected company. As a Server, you will be an essential face of the business, providing a warm and knowledgeable service to guests in a fast-paced, multitasking environment. This employment is generally full-time and part-time, with shifts spanning days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the vibrant nature of this hospitality-focused role. Servers at McMenamins are expected to handle a broad range of responsibilities from the opening to the closing of the shift, including greeting customers, managing seating arrangements in collaboration with hosts, taking accurate food and beverage orders, serving handcrafted beer, wine, and spirits, bussing tables, and maintaining clean and organized service areas. Additionally, servers are responsible for using POS systems to place orders and process payments, balancing their bookwork at the end of each shift, and ensuring accurate handling of cash and non-cash receipts.
This position requires a high degree of mental agility and physical endurance as it involves continuous interaction with customers, multitasking among several demands within a busy atmosphere, and working both indoors and outdoors. Servers must work independently while also contributing as effective team members, ensuring guests receive excellent service that enhances their overall experience at McMenamins. The role offers personal growth and career progression potential within a company that values its employees’ development, with many staff members advancing from entry-level positions like servers to managerial roles. Beyond just a job, this is an opportunity to join a fun, positive work environment with a strong focus on work-life balance and career advancement. The company promotes a culture that nurtures creativity and connection, making it an ideal place for those who enjoy engaging with others in a lively, community-oriented setting.
