Job Description
McMenamins Old St. Francis School is a proud member of the McMenamins family, a well-established, family-owned company operating in Oregon and Washington. With a deep-rooted commitment to community, art, history, music, food, drink, and fun, McMenamins has earned a beloved reputation for its unique blend of handcrafted beer, wine, cider, spirits, and coffee paired with honest pub fare. The company's venues range from neighborhood pubs to historic hotels, each carefully restored and maintained to preserve their historic significance while offering guests an inviting and engaging environment. The dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion ensures that individuals from all backgrounds are warmly welcomed and valued as part of the team.
The company offers a wide range of seasonal and long-term career opportunities, with a focus on fostering a positive work-life balance and providing employees with multiple paths for professional growth. At McMenamins Old St. Francis School, you will be part of a fun and dynamic team that values collaboration and a friendly work environment.
The Host/Food Runner/Support Staff position at McMenamins Old St. Francis School is designed for individuals who thrive in high-energy, fast-paced environments and enjoy interacting with customers. This role is critical to providing guests with an exceptional dining and social experience by managing the flow of the dining room, greeting and seating customers, and supporting the timely delivery of food. The host/food runner will answer questions about the pub and property, handle seating arrangements according to customer preferences or assigned seating plans, and assist with phone inquiries. In addition to these customer service duties, the position involves performing some general maintenance tasks such as cleaning and setting tables, restocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness both inside and outside the establishment when necessary.
This job requires mental agility, strong multitasking skills, and the ability to work independently or as a key contributing member of a team. The atmosphere at McMenamins demands staff who can maintain composure and professionalism during busy and deadline-driven shifts. With opportunities to work in different environments including smoking and non-smoking areas, seasonal outdoor work, and the chance to collaborate with staff across various McMenamins locations such as wineries and concert venues, this role offers diverse and engaging duties.
Employees enjoy an extensive benefits package including comprehensive insurance coverage (medical, dental, vision, chiropractic and alternative care), 401(k) with employer contributions, paid time off, and numerous perks like discounts on meals, beverages, apparel, spa services, and hotel stays. The culture at McMenamins supports ongoing career development, with many team members advancing from entry-level positions to management and specialized roles over time. Joining McMenamins Old St. Francis School means becoming part of a company dedicated not only to exceptional hospitality but also to revitalizing historic buildings, supporting local communities and schools, partnering with other local businesses, and creating neighborhood spaces where all are welcome to gather and connect.
