Job Description

McMenamins Old St. Francis is part of the larger McMenamins family-owned company operating in Oregon and Washington. Known for serving handcrafted beer, wine, cider, spirits, and coffee alongside honest pub fare, McMenamins has built a reputation that extends from cozy neighborhood pubs to historic hotels. The company emphasizes community, art, history, music, food, drink, and fun, offering an atmosphere that blends cultural heritage with a welcoming social environment. Beyond just a place to eat or drink, McMenamins locations are centers of neighborhood life where locals and visitors alike gather to relax and enjoy unique experiences. As a company, McMenamins is deeply committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, welcoming applicants from diverse backgrounds and fostering a workplace culture that values each individual.

The role of a Bartender at McMenamins Old St. Francis is both demanding and rewarding, offering an opportunity to engage directly with customers in a vibrant, fast-paced setting. Bartenders are expected to handle a wide range of responsibilities from the moment the bar opens until closing time. This includes serving food and beverages, pouring beer, wine, and spirits with precision and care, operating cash registers or POS systems, waiting on tables, bussing, washing dishes, restocking supplies, and performing general cleaning duties. One of the most important aspects of the position is maintaining excellent customer relations by providing friendly, attentive service and ensuring guests have a memorable experience.

Bartending at McMenamins requires physical stamina and mental agility, as the environment is often busy and deadline-oriented. It demands an ability to multitask efficiently and adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Bartenders must be able to work independently but also collaborate smoothly with other team members to maintain an efficient and pleasant atmosphere. This role is also physically demanding, sometimes involving working in both smoking and non-smoking sections, and requires resilience and dedication.

McMenamins offers seasonal and long-term career opportunities for bartenders, supporting growth within the company. Individuals attracted to this role are those who enjoy working in community-oriented spaces, sharing their passion for quality drinks, and creating welcoming environments where people can come together. The company promotes a positive work-life balance, a fun and supportive team atmosphere, and multiple career paths for advancement, making it more than a job but a career with lasting potential.
