The Food Runner position at McMenamins Old St Francis School is a critical role within the hospitality team, designed to facilitate excellent guest experiences by ensuring efficient delivery of food orders from the kitchen to the guests' tables. This role requires a dynamic individual who can work efficiently in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, often multitasking to support both the culinary and wait staff. In addition to delivering food, the food runner also helps with bussing duties, such as clearing and resetting tables and removing unnecessary dishes, which plays an integral role in maintaining a clean and orderly dining space.

The position also involves supporting bar service needs by providing ice and clean glassware, maintaining cleanliness of the restaurant including outdoor areas, sorting garbage and recycling, and backing up waitstaff as needed. The food runner must maintain strong customer relations to ensure every guest has a pleasant and enjoyable experience. This job demands a combination of physical stamina and excellent interpersonal skills, as it involves hard physical work and extensive interaction with customers and team members. Job Duties

  • Expedite food from the kitchen to the guests’ table in a timely and efficient manner
  • Perform bussing duties including clearing and resetting tables
  • Clear unnecessary dishes from tables
  • Assist with customer requests as needed
  • Provide the bar with ice and clean glassware
  • Set up and clean restaurant and outdoor areas
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the restaurant
  • Back up wait staff as needed
  • Sort garbage and recycling
  • Maintain positive customer relations and ensure a pleasant guest experience
  • Perform duties in a safe manner and report safety concerns to management
  • Keep current on company events, history, and products
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager on duty
