Job Description

The South Carolina Judicial Branch is a revered institution dedicated to upholding justice, fairness, and efficient legal processes across the state. As a key component of the state's judicial system, it encompasses various offices and departments that support the judiciary in delivering high-quality services to the public, legal professionals, and other stakeholders. Known for its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and community engagement, the Judicial Branch offers stable employment opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees. The branch is continually striving to enhance its operations by recruiting dedicated individuals who can provide exceptional administrative support in a legal environment.

Within this esteemed institution, the Office of Disciplinary Counsel plays a crucial role in ensuring ethical standards and discipline among members of the legal profession. The office is responsible for administering disciplinary actions and investigations related to attorney conduct, thereby maintaining the integrity of the legal system. To support these important functions, the office is seeking a Front Desk Receptionist who will act as the first point of contact for all visitors, callers, and inquiries. This role is vital in fostering a professional and welcoming atmosphere, managing communications efficiently, and assisting staff with clerical duties.

The Front Desk Receptionist position offers a unique opportunity for individuals interested in working within a judicial or legal framework. Under general supervision, the receptionist will provide a professional and efficient front-line service that includes managing all incoming communications, coordinating visitor management with security personnel, and directing guests to the appropriate personnel. Beyond reception duties, the role requires proficiency in general clerical tasks such as maintaining office correspondence, managing supplies, recordkeeping, and other administrative responsibilities. Candidates with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate courteously with judges, attorneys, and the public are well-suited for this position.

Employment with the South Carolina Judicial Branch comes with a competitive and comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees and their families. This includes health, dental, and vision insurance; disability and life insurance options; and participation in state retirement and deferred compensation programs. Additional benefits like paid annual and sick leave, paid state holidays, and parental leave contribute to a positive work-life balance. This full-time role not only offers a secure career path but also provides the chance to contribute meaningfully to the legal community and uphold the standards of the judicial system.
