This team ensures that the cloud remains operational around the clock by supporting all AWS data centers, along with the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems that guarantee customers have continuous access to reliable, innovative cloud services. As one of the pioneering cloud computing providers, AWS has earned the trust of customers worldwide, including leading startups and Fortune 500 companies, by delivering scalable and cost-efficient infrastructure solutions. The organization prides itself on its ability to solve complex challenges involving thousands of variables that impact supply chain dynamics and network deployment.
Joining AWS Infrastructure Services means becoming part of a diverse team composed of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and numerous other professionals all collaborating to uphold high standards of safety, security, capacity, and cost effectiveness. The culture at AWS fosters bold ideas, inclusivity, and empowers employees to take ownership of their projects to completion. The role of a Network Deployment Planner is central in this ecosystem, serving as a cornerstone for planning and implementing network infrastructure capacity scaling projects across multiple data center locations.
As a Network Deployment Planner within the Global Network Delivery organization, you will be involved in scoping, forecasting, and coordinating several network deployment projects to support the ever-demanding AWS data centers. This role requires working closely with multiple teams, including supply chain and procurement departments, network engineering, technical program managers, and deployment technicians. Your mission will be to ensure timely availability of physical infrastructure resources, smooth capacity delivery, and alignment with project timelines.
The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in network architecture, with comprehensive knowledge of cabling infrastructure, optic fiber, and networking principles. Proficiency in network hardware such as switches, routers, and understanding the best practices for cabling and fiber installations is essential. Experience in project management disciplines such as scheduling, scope management, budget oversight, and risk mitigation is highly valued. The role demands exceptional judgment, analytical skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively amidst fluctuating project needs.
This position offers a high degree of autonomy and the opportunity to innovate ways to automate and scale AWS networks, a critical function for supporting the vast AWS cloud infrastructure. Candidates must thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and embrace collaboration and continuous learning. The role is open for employment in locations such as Herndon, Virginia and Seattle, Washington, offering an hourly wage range of 30.00 to 54.00 USD, depending on experience and qualifications. Amazon provides a compelling compensation package including sign-on bonuses, restricted stock units, and comprehensive benefits coverage.
AWS values diverse experiences and encourages applications from candidates whose careers may not follow traditional paths. The inclusive culture supports work-life balance, career mentorship, and ongoing development opportunities. The global commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is evident through employee resource groups and regular learning events. In summary, this role represents a unique opportunity to significantly impact the backbone of AWS’s cloud infrastructure, making it an ideal career choice for driven professionals aspiring to shape the future of cloud services.
