Job Description
This position is for a Dish Room Technician, also referred to as a Nutritional Assistant 2, within a hospital or healthcare setting. The hiring establishment is a healthcare facility focused on delivering quality patient care by ensuring proper nutrition and hygiene standards within its food service operations. The company operates a cafeteria and kitchen environment where meals are prepared, served, and cleaned up to maintain high standards, especially important in a patient care context where sanitation and timely meal delivery impact patient health and satisfaction. This role is vital in maintaining the cleanliness and smooth operation of the dish room and kitchen areas, which directly supports the nutritional service team and overall patient care quality.
The role of Dish Room Technician involves maintaining a professional, safe, and clean working environment in both the kitchen and the cafeteria. This job requires attention to detail, physical endurance, and dedication to sanitation standards. The candidate will be responsible for washing dishes efficiently, participating in meal tray line preparation, and managing the logistics of delivering and picking up patient food carts across all units. In addition to these tasks, the role includes occasional shifts in different kitchen and cafeteria areas, contributing to overall operational flexibility and teamwork.
This position is classified as essential, particularly during weather and disaster emergencies, which means the employee must be prepared to work through such conditions to ensure continuous patient service. The role also involves active participation in departmental meetings to promote communication and a collaborative work environment. A successful candidate will foster positive relationships with the kitchen staff to ensure high-quality work standards and uphold exemplary cleanliness in their assigned areas. This is a full-time role, focusing on supporting nutritional operations that directly affect patient treatment and comfort.
Overall, being a Dish Room Technician within a healthcare environment demands reliability, a strong work ethic, commitment to hygiene, and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment. This role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient wellbeing behind the scenes by ensuring that all dishes and kitchen areas meet health and safety regulations and that patient food delivery processes are supported efficiently. The employer typically values candidates who demonstrate responsibility under pressure and a willingness to support critical functions during emergencies. Employment type is generally full-time, with compensation reflective of the healthcare food service sector standards.
