Job Description
The hiring establishment, Easter Seals North Georgia, is a well-respected non-profit organization dedicated to providing exceptional services and support for individuals with disabilities and their families. The organization focuses on empowering these individuals to live fulfilling and inclusive lives through specialized programs ranging from early intervention to employment services. Easter Seals North Georgia is committed to fostering a positive environment that promotes growth, learning, and community involvement. As part of this mission, they operate centers that serve children and adults, including nutritional programs that comply with federal and state guidelines.
This specific opportunity involves the role of Nutrition Technician, a vital position within the organization’s food program division. The Nutrition Technician plays an essential role in preparing and serving nutritious meals compliant with the Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) meal pattern requirements. Reporting directly to the Center Manager, the Nutrition Technician is responsible for managing food orders, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the kitchen adheres to strict safety and cleanliness standards. This role demands a proactive individual who can uphold food safety protocols while fostering a welcoming atmosphere among staff and clients. The Nutrition Technician is also expected to keep thorough records of meals served, temperatures, and supplies to align with compliance mandates.
The role requires a balanced mix of hands-on food preparation, administrative record-keeping, and team collaboration. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain punctuality and a positive work attitude, accurately prepare meals based on scheduled participation, and sustain a clean and organized kitchen environment. Beyond daily meal preparation, the Nutrition Technician coordinates closely with other team members to promote the organization’s values and ensure that the food service program runs smoothly. Monitoring food inventory, placing orders based on relevant menus, and completing weekly kitchen checklists are part of the routine responsibilities that contribute to operational efficiency.
This position also offers growth and learning opportunities, including mandatory training sessions covering health and safety standards, educational programs, and compliance with regulatory entities such as the Department of Human Resources (DHR), Office of School Readiness (OSR), Georgia Pre-K, and Head Start. Physical demands include the ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods, as well as lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The Nutrition Technician will use various kitchen appliances and computer systems to fulfill job duties and communicate effectively within the team. This job is ideal for someone with food preparation experience, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to supporting a service-oriented organization that impacts the community positively.
