Within this outstanding healthcare system, the role of Nutrition Technician stands out as crucial to patient wellness. This full-time position involves working a flexible schedule of four 10-hour days Monday through Friday, plus an average of one weekend per month, reflecting an adaptation to the operational demands of a busy hospital environment. The Nutrition Technician plays a vital role in the food and nutrition services provided to patients at UW Health. The primary focus is to assist in assessing patient nutritional needs, developing and implementing nutrition interventions, and delivering effective nutrition education tailored to individuals or groups. Monitoring patient progress is an essential part of the role, ensuring that dietary interventions are effective and contribute positively to patient outcomes.

Job Requirements

  • 2 years of experience as a nutrition technician, diet clerk, or other nutrition related work
  • Registered as a Nutrition and Dietetic Technician, Registered (NDTR) as delineated by the Commission on Dietetic Registration within 6 months required or in lieu of the above: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist as delineated by the Commission on Dietetic Registration upon hire or obtained within 6 months required
  • Certification/licensure as required by the State of Wisconsin within 3 months of the start date required

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in nutrition or related field
  • Bachelor's Degree in nutrition or related field preferred

Job Duties

  • Help assess, develop, and implement nutrition intervention(s) for individual or group nutrition education, and monitor the patient's progress
  • Participate in compliance and quality performance improvement efforts to ensure that nutrition care is safe and effective
