At the heart of this network are the University Hospital and East Madison Hospital, both exemplary institutions recognized for their commitment to excellence in healthcare. The University Hospital holds the prestigious Magnet designation, marking it as a leader in nursing excellence and patient care. It is ranked as Wisconsin's number one hospital and serves as a key teaching institution and referral center nationally. East Madison Hospital, on the other hand, represents the latest in healthcare facility advancements. It integrates comprehensive wellness services and outpatient care to ensure a holistic approach to health, emphasizing prevention as much as treatment.
Within this outstanding healthcare system, the role of Nutrition Technician stands out as crucial to patient wellness. This full-time position involves working a flexible schedule of four 10-hour days Monday through Friday, plus an average of one weekend per month, reflecting an adaptation to the operational demands of a busy hospital environment. The Nutrition Technician plays a vital role in the food and nutrition services provided to patients at UW Health. The primary focus is to assist in assessing patient nutritional needs, developing and implementing nutrition interventions, and delivering effective nutrition education tailored to individuals or groups. Monitoring patient progress is an essential part of the role, ensuring that dietary interventions are effective and contribute positively to patient outcomes.
This position offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with patients, often acting as a bridge between complex clinical nutrition plans and patient adherence. Working closely with registered dietitians and other healthcare professionals, the Nutrition Technician contributes to a multidisciplinary approach that aims to optimize each patient's nutritional status as part of their overall care plan. Engagement in compliance and quality performance improvement initiatives is also part of the role, underscoring the emphasis UW Health places on safety, quality, and efficacy in nutrition care.
Candidates for this position will find UW Health to be not only an employer that values professional growth but also one that supports work-life balance through flexible scheduling options. Employees benefit from comprehensive health, dental, and retirement plans, paid time off, and parental leave, among other supportive policies. Additionally, the organization fosters employee wellness through dedicated programs and provides tuition benefits to encourage continuous education and career development. UW Health's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion ensures that all employees feel valued and respected, creating an enriching and supportive work environment.
