The Nutrition Services I - Server position is a vital role within Bend-La Pine Schools’ Nutrition Services Department, reporting directly to the Nutrition Services Supervisor. This position involves performing food serving, cooking, and kitchen cleaning duties to support the daily meal operations in school cafeterias. The role is designed for individuals who can work under direct supervision, following established procedures and regulations. Responsibilities include preparing and serving food, managing meal counts and deposits, operating meal software, and maintaining cleanliness in food preparation and serving areas. Nutrition Services I - Server may also assist with processing free and reduced meal applications, supervising student helpers, and transporting food to other school locations within the district.
This position requires adherence to food safety and sanitation standards, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment during meal service periods. Job Requirements
- Equivalent to a high school education or GED
- Minimal on-the-job training required
- Ability to read, write, and communicate
- Ability to understand basic directions and mathematical concepts
- Ability to perform physical tasks including prolonged standing, bending, reaching and lifting
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and cafeteria environment
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Possession or ability to obtain an Oregon Food Handler's Permit or ServSafe certification

- Ability to work under supervision and follow clearly defined procedures
Job Qualifications

- Ability to learn the basic computer software used
- Ability to make bank deposits and process the selling of meals accurately and efficiently

- Willingness to attend regularly scheduled food service workshops
Job Duties
- Performs routine food preparation duties
- Serves food
- May need to process free and reduced applications
- Performs cleaning and dish washing and other general duties in a kitchen or serving area
- May transport food to other school locations
- Collects money and operates Meal software
- Sells ala carte and snack bar items
- May assist with the opening and closing of the kitchen prior to the beginning and after the ending of each school year
- Assists in the cleaning and storing of equipment and food supplies
- Assists in the process of assuring an adequate supply of food items
- Maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the assigned operational area
- Supervises student helpers
- Maintains necessary records
- Fulfills other related duties as assigned
