Job Description

St. Vrain Valley School District's Department of Nutrition Services is dedicated to providing high-quality, nutritious, and well-balanced meals to students across the district. As a public education entity serving a diverse student population, the department ensures that every meal meets stringent nutritional guidelines, including compliance with the National School Breakfast and Lunch programs. These guidelines require that meals provide at least one-quarter of the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) at breakfast and one-third at lunch, supporting the health and academic success of students. The department functions as a self-supporting enterprise, focusing on efficiency while maintaining affordability for students and families.

The department has a clear vision to provide dynamic school meals that nourish the community. Their mission centers on creating a welcoming environment that supports the education and well-being of students through nutrition. Emphasizing both quality and community, Nutrition Services plays a vital role in the overall educational ecosystem by ensuring students have access to the nutrition they need to thrive during their school day. The department's leadership and kitchen managers collaborate to deliver this mission effectively, focusing on both nutritional standards and operational excellence.

The position available is for a Nutrition Services Cook-Cashier at Silver Creek High School for the 2026-2027 school year. This role is classified as a part-time (0.468 FTE) position, working 3.75 hours per day for 176 days per year. The position falls within Classified Pay Range 2, with salaries according to the St. Vrain Valley Schools Salary Schedules. The Cook-Cashier will be responsible for food preparation, serving, and cashier duties while maintaining a positive and safe environment in the school’s nutrition services operation.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about contributing to student health and nutrition within the educational system. The position involves hands-on duties such as preparing nutritious meals in compliance with federal and district guidelines, operating cash registers for meal transactions, maintaining inventory, and ensuring food safety and cleanliness standards. This role is instrumental in supporting the district’s goal to provide affordable, nutritious meals that help students perform their best academically and physically.

St. Vrain Valley Schools also offers a robust benefits package that supports employee health and well-being. These benefits include medical plans, wellness programming, dental and vision insurance, life insurance options, retirement through PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association), disability coverage, and flexible spending accounts.
