The district prioritizes creating a supportive environment for students and staff, focusing on health, safety, and operational excellence within its nutrition services departments. Additionally, payroll and timecard accuracy are essential components of this role, alongside ensuring proper food safety procedures according to the Nutrition Services HACCP plan.

Operational functions involve managing inventory, ordering food and supplies from vendors, verifying deliveries, planning menus based on centralized guidelines, and maintaining accurate records of customer accounts, sales, and meal accountability reports. The role includes administrative tasks like preparing deposits, reviewing Edit Check reports, and ensuring compliance with USDA meal guidelines. The manager trainee also communicates regularly with the Nutrition Services Office regarding issues such as health inspections, equipment repairs, and maintenance. Furthermore, the role supports the district's nutrition philosophy and may involve establishing a Nutrition Advisory Council at the school site.

This full-time position necessitates physical demands such as lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, bending, twisting, standing, walking, and performing fine finger manipulation. Candidates should possess abilities in basic math, money handling, word processing, and spreadsheets. The job entails frequent interaction with diverse populations, requiring tact, diplomacy, professionalism, and a positive attitude at all times. Employees must adhere to district policies regarding work hours, appearance, and conduct, maintaining the high standards expected within USD 259.
