Job Description

Englewood Schools is a reputable educational institution committed to fostering a supportive and enriching environment for students and staff alike. Located at Charles Hay World School, the district emphasizes the importance of comprehensive wellness and nutrition programs aimed at enhancing student achievement and learning. Englewood Schools stands out with its dedication to nurturing a collaborative community where employees can thrive professionally and personally. This commitment is reflected in its comprehensive benefits package and adherence to inclusive workplace policies, ensuring equal opportunity for all candidates.

The Nutrition Services Manager position at Charles Hay World School offers a fulfilling opportunity to lead and innovate within the school's culinary services. This non-exempt role involves a 176-day work year with a schedule from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, allowing for a balanced work-life alignment. The starting hourly rate ranges from $20.25 to $22.92, depending on education and related job experience, complemented by eligibility for benefits which include medical, dental, vision insurance, and more.

In this pivotal role, the Nutrition Services Manager will be responsible for maintaining a state-of-the-art culinary experience that ensures the preparation and delivery of nutritious, appealing meals to support student learning and health. The role involves overseeing all aspects of the nutrition program, including compliance with USDA, Colorado Department of Education, and district policies. The manager will lead efforts to plan menus that are flavorful, nutritious, and compliant with national school lunch standards, creating a positive impact on students' dietary habits.

Leadership and mentorship are key components, as the manager will recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate site staff, fostering a productive and motivated team. Collaboration with various stakeholders including parents, interns, mentors, and community members is essential to promote healthier meal choices and enhance customer service excellence across the program.

An important aspect of this position is managing the operational side of the nutrition services, which includes inventory control, online ordering, equipment maintenance, and ensuring all food storage and handling meet stringent health and safety guidelines such as HACCP. The manager will also engage in budgetary responsibilities by prioritizing and scheduling tasks, maintaining accurate records, and implementing efficient processes while adhering to district policies.

This role demands a mix of hands-on culinary knowledge, management skills, and the ability to adapt in an ever-changing educational environment. The environment presents some physical demands such as frequent lifting, bending, and hand coordination activities, along with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels typical in a kitchen setting.

Beyond the operational and managerial duties, the Nutrition Services Manager serves as a liaison to the community, promoting program participation through marketing, taste tests, and student involvement. Continuous professional development is encouraged, requiring attendance at conferences and training sessions to stay current on nutrition trends and regulations.

Overall, this position offers a rewarding career path for individuals passionate about food service management and student wellness. Englewood Schools supports its employees with a robust benefits package, a positive work environment, and opportunities for growth and development, making it a desirable workplace for dedicated professionals.
