Covenant Woods combines a compassionate, team-focused atmosphere with high standards of care and service, making it a preferred place both to live and to work. The role of Nutrition Services Food Porter at Covenant Woods is essential in supporting the culinary and dining services team to ensure residents receive timely, accurate, and high-quality meal service. This position involves multiple responsibilities related to food handling, kitchen support, and cleanliness that contribute directly to the community’s overall dining experience. The Food Porter is responsible for retrieving food items from the kitchen and delivering meals, desserts, beverages, and salads to designated dining areas, ensuring that all service meets the community’s high standards of safety and satisfaction.

This is a role requiring strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and adherence to food safety protocols mandated by Covenant Woods and the Virginia Department of Health. Duties include following critical food safety procedures such as proper handwashing, hair covering, prevention of cross-contamination, and maintaining correct cooking temperatures to keep all food safe for consumption. The Food Porter also plays a key role in supporting kitchen operations by maintaining and stocking kitchen areas, sanitizing equipment and surfaces like refrigerators, freezers, and coffee machines, and ensuring all food items are properly labeled and dated.

The schedule options include both full-time and part-time positions, providing flexibility for candidates. Full-time hours run from 10:45 AM to 5:30 PM with every other weekend required, while part-time positions involve weekend shifts and one weekday shift. Employees in this role will also assist with monitoring equipment condition and promptly reporting maintenance concerns to management, supporting the smooth functioning of kitchen operations.

Working at Covenant Woods offers employees a competitive pay structure and paid time off benefits within a supportive, team-oriented environment. The organization values reliability, detail orientation, and commitment to quality service in all team members. By joining Covenant Woods, individuals contribute meaningfully to the daily lives and well-being of residents, helping to create a positive and nourishing atmosphere through excellent dining services.
