The Nutrition Services Department at Salem Hospital is searching for a full-time Nutrition Services Associate to join their vibrant team. This position is scheduled from 10:00 am to 8:30 pm, Friday through Monday, and is non-exempt with a 40-hour workweek. As part of the Nutrition Services team, the associate plays an essential role in supporting patient care by delivering exceptional food service that contributes to the healing environment of the hospital.

In this role, you will not only prepare and serve high-quality food and beverages that meet strict dietary and safety standards but also contribute to maintaining an inviting and sanitary service environment. Versatility is key, as the associate will support multiple service areas and may take on various roles such as barista, food preparer, dish associate, server, and nutrition services associate according to staffing needs. Adaptability in a fast-paced, high-demand setting is crucial, along with a commitment to precision, cleanliness, and customer service.

The associate will use their skills in food handling and preparation to ensure meals are fresh, flavorful, and visually appealing, adhering strictly to recipes and portion control guidelines. Customer interaction is also a significant component of this role, involving running trays to patient rooms, assisting guests at point-of-sale stations, and responding promptly to inquiries and requests, ensuring a warm and professional rapport.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food Handler certification within 30 days of hire
  • One year of experience in retail food service or healthcare food service
  • Ability to work from 10:00 am to 8:30 pm, Friday through Monday
  • Ability to work in both hot and cold environments
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Food Handler certification within 30 days of hire
  • One year of experience working in retail food service or healthcare food service
  • Experience as a barista and in food preparation preferred

Job Duties

  • Support multiple service areas by cross-training and filling in as a barista, food preparer, nutrition services associate, dish associate, and server to meet staffing needs and ensure smooth operations
  • Prepare and serve high-quality food and beverages that are fresh, flavorful, and visually appealing, while accurately following recipes, portion guidelines, and dietary standards
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by running trays to patient rooms, assisting guests at point-of-sale stations, and responding promptly and professionally to customer and patient needs
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment by adhering to food safety protocols, departmental standards, and demonstrating adaptability in a fast-paced, high-demand setting
