Job Description
Diane Porter Early Childhood Center is a nurturing educational establishment dedicated to fostering the growth and development of young children. Situated in a community-oriented environment, the center prioritizes providing a safe, supportive, and enriching atmosphere for its attendees. A key part of its comprehensive program includes delivering high-quality nutrition services that support the overall well-being and healthy development of children during their critical early years. As part of their commitment to excellence in childcare, the center incorporates a thoughtfully managed food service program that ensures all meals served meet rigorous standards for nutritional value and safety. This careful attention to nutrition plays an essential role in the center's mission to promote optimal development and learning readiness among its young learners.
The Food Services/Nutrition Service Manager position at Diane Porter Early Childhood Center offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to lead and maintain the food service program within a dynamic early childhood educational setting. This role is integral to managing all aspects of food service operations, ensuring that daily meal service—comprising at least 500 meals and meal equivalents—is delivered efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and policies. The manager will oversee food service personnel, fostering an environment of improvement and professionalism among the team, and ensuring that nutritionally balanced, appealing meals are served within established financial constraints. The position offers a salary range of $17.3141 to $23.2212 per hour based on experience and qualifications, with a structured working calendar of 187 days per year and an eight-hour workday schedule. Candidates can expect to play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest standards of food safety and nutrition, supporting not only the health but also the developmental success of children at the center.
Furthermore, this role emphasizes the importance of ethical conduct and professionalism in all duties and responsibilities undertaken. The person in this position will develop strategies for improving food service staff performance and navigating the complexities of regulatory compliance. Effective communication skills are essential to successfully coordinating with team members, children, parents, and regulatory authorities. The Nutrition Service Manager will also have the chance to develop and implement innovative meal plans and service techniques to enhance the nutritional offerings at the center, thereby elevating the overall quality of care and education provided. This role is vital in ensuring that the dietary needs of young children are met with expertise, compassion, and attention to detail, making it a rewarding career opportunity for professionals passionate about child nutrition and food service management.
