The cook is required to follow standardized recipes to guarantee consistent, high-quality food products served not only to patients but also to the cafeteria and in various catered events. In addition to preparing standard food items, the cook will prepare food for modified diets, catering to special nutritional needs of patients under medical supervision. The job emphasizes the importance of maintaining sanitary standards in the preparation area and proper usage of kitchen equipment such as mixers, food choppers, and food processors. The cook will also have a role in customer service, adhering to expected performance standards in all interactions. This position demands culinary skills along with an understanding of nutritional guidelines, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The employee will occasionally support the creation of special preparations and presentations for catered events, adding creativity and attention to detail to food presentation. This position requires at least one year of professional cooking experience and the ability to operate food production equipment. It also requires good communication skills to effectively work with department staff and adhere to required quality protocols. The role holds physical demands such as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling various weight ranges, and navigating stairs or ladders, consistent with food production responsibilities.
