The position being offered is within Corewell Health's Nutrition Services team at the Michigan Street Market and Grill in Butterworth Hospital. The role focuses on patient meal service, which is a critical function supporting the health and recovery of hospital patients. Employees in this position engage in a variety of tasks that include answering calls in the call center, assembling patient meal trays, maintaining cleanliness by sanitizing dishes and equipment, managing food stock, and delivering meals efficiently and accurately to designated areas. Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
prior experience in food service or healthcare environment beneficial but not required
ability to follow guidelines and work in a team environment
strong communication and customer service skills
ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and standing for extended periods
basic math skills for cash handling
attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety

Job Duties

Prepares and maintains serving lines including dishes, silverware, hot and cold food items, condiments
prepares and assembles cold food items such as salads, desserts and nourishments and ensures proper storage and dating
serves food as directed and replenishes items
disassembles and cleans food stations by wiping counters, steam tables and warmers
sets up and operates the cash register and cash handling equipment, counts and balances cash register, records totals and deposits money
performs routine and heavy-duty cleaning including washing pots, pans, utensils
operates dishwasher and cleans major equipment
transports refuse and materials safely
maintains sanitary conditions through daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, and operating mechanical floor cleaner
sets up and delivers food carts to patient and other delivery areas, retrieves carts and returns them to dish room
strips patient and cafeteria trays and sorts soiled equipment
assembles patient trays according to dietary requirements with accuracy and speed
delivers trays verifying patient details
participates in quality monitoring activities like taking and recording food and refrigeration temperatures
assists with maintenance of department facilities and reports malfunctions
