The Nutrition Services Assistant Manager position is an academic year employment opportunity at Richardson Elementary School, a vital part of the ISD 622 district. In this role, the Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting all facets of meal preparation and service, ensuring strict adherence to the district's Nutrition Services policies, including sanitation and safety standards. Key responsibilities include cooking, cleaning, dishwashing, inventory management, and food temperature monitoring. The role also entails functioning as a cashier when necessary, entering temperatures on monitoring sheets, recording food usage on pick lists, and assisting the Kitchen Manager with operational tasks. The position requires a combination of physical stamina, organizational skills, and customer service abilities to efficiently collaborate with students, staff, and parents.

The Assistant Manager must maintain a high level of food safety certification, including Serve Safe certification and achieving School Nutrition Association certification level 3 or 4 within one year of employment. Familiarity with dietary guidelines, USDA regulations, and the Minnesota Food Code is essential for ensuring compliance. Additionally, proficiency or willingness to learn various computer systems such as Gmail, Linq Software Solutions, inventory and menu planning software, Skyward, and Campus is required to manage digital food service operations.

This position demands physical capabilities such as the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, frequent standing and walking, hand-eye coordination, repetitive hand movements, and occasional climbing or stooping. Job Duties

  • Provide support in preparing and serving school meals
  • Ensure compliance with Nutrition Services policies including sanitation and safety standards
  • Function as a cashier when necessary
  • Enter temperatures on temperature sheets and record food usage on pick lists
  • Assist the Kitchen Manager with cooking, cleaning, washing dishes, cleaning spills, and taking inventory
  • Manage inventory and menu planning using software tools
  • Perform any other duties as assigned
