Job Description
KIPP Atlanta Schools is part of the KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) national network, a renowned collective of free, open enrollment, college-preparatory schools dedicated to empowering students to create their own futures and positively impact their communities. Operating across 21 states and the District of Columbia, KIPP serves over 175,000 scholars and alumni through 280 schools nationally. In Atlanta, KIPP manages nine schools comprising four primary schools, four middle schools, and one high school, as well as KIPP Forward, which supports scholars as they pursue a choice-filled life after graduation. Echoing its foundation as a social justice organization, KIPP Atlanta Schools embodies a mission that calls for bold, skilled, and devoted educators, leaders, and support staff committed to fostering academically excellent and joyful learning environments. The institution’s vision is not only educational empowerment but also the driving force for a more just and equitable world for its scholars.
The role of Nutrition Manager at KIPP Atlanta Schools is a pivotal leadership position within the school’s nutrition program. This role is charged with managing the comprehensive daily operation of the nutrition program at an assigned campus, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations while promoting scholars’ health and wellness through nutritious meal service. Reporting directly to the Regional Nutrition Manager, the Nutrition Manager acts as the operational head of the campus nutrition program, responsible for the quality and safety of all meals served. Key aspects of this role include overseeing food safety, meal production, financial stewardship, inventory management, and regulatory adherence. The position carries direct supervisory responsibilities over Nutrition Assistant Managers, Senior Nutrition Assistants, Nutrition Assistants, and substitute staff.
This role demands a leader who can effectively coach and develop staff, enhancing team capacity and nurturing future leaders through performance management and training. The Nutrition Manager is essential in creating an environment where every scholar is offered appealing, wholesome meals that meet USDA guidelines while maintaining excellence in service and presentation. The position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong communication, and organizational skills to effectively manage meal service schedules, food quality, and customer service. Furthermore, the Nutrition Manager supports broader organizational goals by contributing to wellness initiatives and nutrition education, linking food service operations directly to scholar well-being.
With salary ranges between $60,000 and $97,500 yearly, this role offers competitive compensation aligned with KIPP Atlanta Schools’ leadership salary bands. The salary depends on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Most new hires are placed in the lower to mid-level range, with placement at the higher end reserved for those with advanced expertise and leadership maturity demonstrated through tangible organizational impacts. KIPP Atlanta Schools provides a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and professional development opportunities. This position requires flexibility in scheduling, readiness to work varied hours including occasional evenings and weekends, as well as physical capability to manage standard requirements such as lifting up to 25 pounds and mobility for standing and walking during school activities. Located in Atlanta, this role demands regular on-campus presence and participation in regional meetings. As an equal opportunity employer, KIPP Atlanta Schools fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace, rejecting discrimination of any kind.
