One of its key facilities, St. Marys Regional Hospital located in Grand Junction, Colorado, is seeking dedicated individuals to join their Nutrition Services team. Known for its patient-centered approach and innovative healthcare solutions, Intermountain Health prioritizes the well-being of its patients and staff alike. As a part of this commitment, the hospital offers a supportive work environment that values professional growth, diversity, and wellness.
The role open at St. Marys Regional Hospital is a multifaceted Food Service Worker position within the Nutrition Services department. This full-time role, working a 40-hour week on the day shift from 6 am to 2:30 pm, involves a variety of food preparation and guest service duties essential to supporting patient care. The position does not require evening or graveyard shifts but does include weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule with other caregivers. The hourly pay ranges from $17.68 to $22.99, determined by experience.
In this role, employees will perform several key functions varying based on facility needs. Primary duties include assembling and delivering patient meal trays in accordance with established standard processes. Additionally, the Food Service Worker will prepare food items such as salads, sandwiches, vegetables, and fruit following standardized recipes and assembly instructions. The position also involves cashier responsibilities including handling cash and credit transactions accurately and resolving basic customer service issues independently.
Beyond food preparation and service, workers are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment including ovens, fryers, and hoods. This comprehensive set of duties ensures a safe and pleasant dining experience for patients and supports the overall nutrition services operation.
Employees in this position are cross-trained to cover various roles such as barista and cashier, enhancing team flexibility and maximizing skill utilization. A key to success in this role is a focus on food safety, customer service, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team. The hospital values candidates who demonstrate attention to detail, effective communication, and responsive guest interaction skills.
Candidates should possess or be willing to obtain a Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification by their first day of work, as required in Utah and Idaho, and preferred experience working with modified diets and delivering exceptional customer service. Physical demands are also essential to note—employees must be capable of prolonged standing, handling and transporting equipment and supplies of varying weights, and tolerating temperature extremes and cleaning chemicals.
Joining Intermountain Health as a Food Service Worker at St. Marys Regional Hospital means becoming part of a team dedicated to enhancing patient wellbeing through quality nutrition and service. The organization fosters a culture of wellness encompassing mind, body, and spirit, supported by a comprehensive benefits package designed to promote healthy, happy, secure, connected, and engaged employees. As an equal opportunity employer, Intermountain Health welcomes applications from qualified individuals regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or any other protected status, ensuring fairness and inclusivity in the recruitment process.
