Job Description

Intermountain Health is a nationally recognized healthcare organization known for providing high-quality, compassionate care to communities throughout Utah and beyond. The organization operates a network of hospitals, clinics, and other health-related facilities committed to improving the health and well-being of the people they serve. Intermountain Health upholds a culture of respect, innovation, and inclusivity, creating an environment that supports both patients and employees alike. Their dedication to wellness extends beyond clinical care, encompassing mind, body, and spirit, fostering a sustainable culture of health for employees and patients. One such facility under this umbrella is the Intermountain Health Spanish Fork Hospital located in Spanish Fork, Utah. This hospital provides a wide range of medical and support services designed to meet the needs of its diverse patient population with the highest standards of care and professionalism.

The role being offered is for a PRN Food Service Worker at the Intermountain Health Spanish Fork Hospital. This position is designed for individuals interested in flexible, on-call work that supports the hospital’s nutrition and food service operations. The Food Service Worker performs a variety of duties encompassing food preparation, patient meal tray assembly and delivery, cashier responsibilities, food serving, and cleaning under general supervision. This job primarily involves interacting with patients and hospital staff to ensure that meals are delivered in a timely, hygienic manner, and that the environment meets cleanliness standards expected in a healthcare setting.

This is a PRN role, meaning the employee will be called on as needed to cover shifts, providing flexible scheduling options from Sunday through Saturday with variable 8-hour shifts scheduled between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. The primary shifts include morning to mid-afternoon and mid-afternoon to evening shifts. The position is compensated with an hourly pay rate ranging from $17.25 to $22.43, depending on experience. While this position does not offer benefits eligibility, it is ideal for someone seeking supplemental income or looking to gain experience in the healthcare food service environment.

The Food Service Worker is expected to deliver excellent customer service, maintaining a guest-focused attitude while performing essential functions such as collecting, cleaning, and sanitizing cookware, dishes, and patient trays. The role requires preparation of food items following established recipes and adhering to system nutritional standards. Employees in this position must also follow standardized nutrition service practices to ensure proper meal delivery, presentation, and inventory management. Housekeeping duties are also a component, requiring cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, floor care, and equipment maintenance including ovens and fryers.

This position requires physical endurance and attention to detail as it involves standing for long periods, lifting and transporting equipment and supplies, working in environments with varying temperatures, and exposure to cleaning chemicals. The ability to communicate clearly and coordinate tasks effectively with team members is essential to provide excellent patient and guest service in a fast-paced hospital environment. A Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification is required by the first day of work, underscoring the importance Intermountain Health places on food safety and compliance with regulatory standards.

Overall, this PRN Food Service Worker position offers an engaging opportunity to be part of a reputable healthcare organization dedicated to patient care and employee wellness. It is a suitable role for those who enjoy a dynamic work environment, have a passion for food service, and want to contribute meaningfully to patient satisfaction and operational excellence within a hospital setting.
