Job Description

Anacortes Family Center, operating under the Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County, is a dedicated community organization committed to providing enriching programs and support services to youth and families in the Anacortes area. As a part of a larger network of Boys & Girls Clubs, this center focuses on fostering safe, welcoming environments where children can thrive socially, academically, and physically. The organization is well-regarded for its comprehensive approach to youth development, emphasizing healthy living, education, and community involvement. Their commitment to nurturing the whole child is reflected in their variety of programs, one of which includes the provision of nutritious meals to support healthy growth and development among youth attendees.

The Nutrition Assistant role at Anacortes Family Center is a unique part-time opportunity designed for someone passionate about food service and community impact. Working 25 to 29 hours per week, this position comes with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $20.30 to $22.38, depending on experience and qualifications, with an additional $1.00 differential for work served in the Anacortes location. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the Fidalgo Island Nutrition Coordinator in all aspects of meal preparation and delivery, ensuring that nutritious meals and snacks reach youth in a timely and safe manner.

This role goes beyond just following recipes; it requires recognizing the broader impact that each meal has on the wellbeing of young people in the community. The Nutrition Assistant will be involved in preparing high-quality, balanced meals, packaging and delivering these meals safely, maintaining inventory and supplies, and adhering strictly to food safety standards and documentation. Moreover, the role demands great organizational skills and attention to detail, as maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment is critical. The assistant will be an integral team member essential to keeping the food service operation running seamlessly each day.

Ideal candidates for this position enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen environment where teamwork and precision are valued. Individuals who take pride in their meticulousness, reliability, and dedication to supporting the health and nutrition of children and families will find this role especially rewarding. Experience in food service, while beneficial, is not mandatory; rather, a willingness to learn, be adaptable, and contribute positively to the team culture are equally important attributes.

Working at the Anacortes Family Center means becoming part of a community-focused organization that values its employees and the children it serves. The Nutrition Assistant will find purpose in knowing their work directly contributes to the daily nourishment and positive experiences of local youth. This position offers an excellent chance to combine a love for food and nutrition with meaningful community service, all while being supported by a respected and mission-driven nonprofit organization. Applicants who appreciate a well-organized kitchen, enjoy working behind the scenes to make important things happen, and want their efforts to visibly benefit children and families in the Anacortes community are encouraged to apply. This role promises both personal fulfillment and professional growth in a supportive, collaborative team environment.
