This world-class community of learners is dedicated to cultivating internationally minded students who are not only knowledgeable but also caring and compassionate. The district’s mission centers on guiding students to develop essential learning skills tailored to help them achieve their full potential. At Fridley Public Schools, there is a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, ensuring that every student feels valued and has a sense of belonging. The district believes that all learners have the right to a quality education and possess the ability to learn and attain self-fulfillment. Furthermore, it emphasizes equipping students with the strategies and tools necessary to become responsible, independent, and productive members of society.

The role offered is that of a Nutritional Services Cook at Fridley Middle School. This position involves working 4.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with wages based on the Nutritional Services master agreement. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in serving freshly made nutritious meals to customers daily. Teamwork is essential, as employees collaborate to prepare and serve menu options to students and staff. This role demands a positive attitude, keen attention to detail, willingness to learn new skills, and enjoyment in working with students. The cook will be responsible for preparing cold entrees, serving customers, completing cleaning tasks, and supporting daily production needs in adherence to Minnesota Department of Education, Minnesota Food Code, and Fridley Public Schools policies.

Specifically, duties include preparing and serving foods such as fruits, vegetables, sandwiches, and snacks; operating various kitchen equipment like Robo coupe, warmers, and dishwashers; utilizing kitchenware such as knives and spatulas; performing sanitizing and cleaning tasks; maintaining production records; and fostering positive relationships with students and staff. Additionally, the cook sets up serving lines with necessary utensils and menu items, follows proper portioning techniques, operates point of sale stations, and replenishes food during lunch periods. Physically, the job requires activities such as talking, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 40 pounds regularly (and occasionally more), as well as using hands for grasping and feeling. The position offers reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities and encourages applications from Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), women, and LGBTQ+ candidates. It is an equal opportunity and veteran-friendly employer with a strong focus on diversity and inclusion, reflective of the community it serves.
