Job Description

Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) is a nonprofit, faith-based organization headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, dedicated to providing high-quality housing options, care, and service solutions for older adults. With a history dating back to 1955, PHS has grown significantly to become one of the largest nonprofit providers of senior housing and services in the United States, employing approximately 8,000 professionals who serve over 41,800 elders throughout Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. The organization operates 60 PHS-affiliated senior living communities and offers home and community services through its Optage® program. Additionally, PHS co-owns Genevive, the largest geriatric primary care practice in Minnesota, delivering comprehensive healthcare for more than 15,500 older adults. The organization is known for its innovative leadership and commitment to enhancing independence, purposeful living, and overall well-being for its residents and clients.

One of the communities within PHS’s network is Highland Path, located in one of St. Paul’s most desirable neighborhoods. Highland Path provides a range of living options including independent living, assisted living, and memory care apartment homes. The community is known for its wealth of amenities that help residents stay engaged, active, and happy, while providing the necessary support and care to maintain their independence. Nearby towns such as Roseville, Richfield, Mendota Heights, and Maplewood are in close proximity, offering a well-rounded and accessible location for both residents and their families.

The Nutrition & Culinary Supervisor role at Presbyterian Homes & Services - Highland Path is a critical position responsible for overseeing the preparation and delivery of high-quality meals and dining experiences for the community’s residents. This full-time role involves supervising and training staff within the Nutrition & Culinary Services department, which may include cooks, chefs, servers, and lead servers. The supervisor will participate actively in meal preparation and service to ensure compliance with established menus, regulatory standards, policies, procedures, and best practices. This involves a strong focus on safety, nutrition, and quality assurance.

Working a standard 40-hour business week, the Nutrition & Culinary Services Supervisor reports directly to the Nutrition & Culinary Services Director. The supervisor plays a key role in soliciting and incorporating customer feedback to enhance the quality and satisfaction levels of meals served. Additionally, the supervisor helps with menu planning, maintains accurate meal documentation, assists with cleaning responsibilities, and participates in resident care conferences as needed.

This role requires a professional with at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred certifications such as a food service supervisor course or Certified Dietary Manager credential. One year of food service experience in settings like restaurants, healthcare, or senior services is required. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of state and federal food-handling regulations, including Serve Safe certification, and a thorough understanding of food service operations. Personal integrity, flexibility, and strong communication skills are essential for working effectively with residents, staff, family members, visitors, and the public.

The role offers a competitive starting pay ranging from $25.46 to $27.41 per hour, with compensation reflective of the candidate’s qualifications and prevailing market conditions. Benefits for full-time employees include health, dental, life insurance options, retirement plans with employer matching, paid holidays, extended sick leave, paid time off, and employee assistance programs. Additional benefits for part-time roles include vision insurance, disability coverage, accident and hospitalization insurance, education assistance, and access to health and wellness resources.

As a part of Presbyterian Homes & Services, the Nutrition & Culinary Supervisor will join a mission-driven organization that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. PHS is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer committed to providing equal consideration regardless of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, or public assistance status. This opportunity offers a meaningful career path dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors through compassionate care and superior service.
